Stella Tennant is a Scottish supermodel. The granddaughter of the heirs of people who on the bad side, sadly served in the disasterous late 1890s Salisbury Governments that saw so much famine in India, the Duke & Duchess of Devonshire. But on their good side, also were very rich and had a mansion. Tennant was born in Scotland & attended St Leonards School in St Andrews. Her parents go by the name, for some reason the Honourable Tobias William Tennant & Lady Emma Cavendish.
Tennant was studying at the Winchester School of Art, where she was a promising sculpture student when she was 'discovered'. The story of how this happened remains an urban myth, but she sent some photographs of herself to a high fashion magazine, & a friend introduced her to fashion writer Plum Sykes. She had recently had her nasal septum pierced, which was an unusual look for models at the time, & Sykes was taken aback by Stella's unconventional features & facial piercings. It was her aquiline & aristocratic features, lithe 6-foot frame & quick-witted manner that subsequently attracted the attention of photographers such as Steven Meisel & Bruce Weber. Tennant quickly rose to fame, posing for magazines such as French, British, & Italian Vogue as well as Harper's Bazaar & Numero.
Tennant was recently chosen to walk the runway for Chanel & is a muse of the designer, Karl Lagerfeld. She has also appeared in countless advertising campaigns, including Calvin Klein, Hermès, & Burberry. She was chosen to front the Burberry advertising campaign to revitalise the British firm & distance itself from the supposedly chav culture with which it is associated. Really people should oppose bullies, and thugs, not care about what people wear.
Tennant has four children & is married to a New York photographer. She settled her family in her native Scotland, where they still reside
She looks very good. Happily the Devonshires did not have a bad history in ruling as some of the undemocratic era rich families. But it all shows democarcy is better than inequality.
